Pneumatic and hydraulic mechanisms need more than an output that energizes a valve. The machine must know when movement is allowed, whether the expected position has been reached and how to respond when pressure or feedback is unavailable. MCT Nexus integrates those requirements with the electrical and PLC/HMI package.
The project begins with the mechanism, required movement and operating conditions. Mechanical and fluid-power design responsibilities are coordinated with the controls work. Equipment ratings, circuit design and supplier requirements inform the sequence rather than being inferred from software alone.
Fluid power within the automation system
Pneumatic cylinders and actuators
Actuators may clamp, locate, transfer or operate a machine function. We define the required sequence and the feedback used to confirm each action. Timeouts and diagnostic messages identify an incomplete movement without assuming that a valve command proves the mechanism reached its intended position.
Valve manifolds and electrical interfaces
Valve islands, individual coils and supported communication modules must align with the I/O architecture. Device identification, output assignments and available diagnostics are recorded in the engineering package. The design also establishes command behavior during operating-mode changes and recovery from a fault.
Hydraulic equipment interfaces
Hydraulic power units and actuator circuits can expose run, ready, pressure, temperature and fault information. MCT Nexus defines the electrical and controls interface around the supplier’s circuit and equipment requirements. Fluid-power sizing, load control and component selection responsibilities are established before software behavior is finalized.
Pressure and position feedback
Pressure and position signals describe different conditions and should be used accordingly. The project defines which signals permit movement, which verify the process and which identify an abnormal condition. Their ranges, switching behavior and controller representation are documented with the instrument and I/O information.
Machine sequence and recovery
Manual functions, automatic steps, interrupted cycles and restart need an agreed behavior. We consider how the mechanism’s physical position is established before a sequence continues. Operator messages should explain the missing condition so recovery follows the intended machine procedure.
Fault finding and upgrades
For existing equipment, we review the circuit information, installed devices, electrical interface and observed symptoms together. A sequence fault may originate in a physical mechanism, supply condition, signal or program. The investigation scope identifies the appropriate checks and any specialist fluid-power work required.
Coordinate circuit design, controls and verification
Useful project inputs include the pneumatic or hydraulic schematic, actuator requirements, operating pressure, expected positions, cycle description and available supplier information. From these, the teams agree on the machine interfaces, device list, control states and acceptance criteria.
Stored energy, unexpected movement and recovery require explicit consideration in the machine risk review and operating procedures. Protective functions and isolation requirements are assigned to the responsible qualified parties. Functional checks then verify the agreed sequence, feedback, diagnostics and restart behavior; they do not replace the machine’s safety validation.
Define the project scope

They can be evaluated as part of the project. We need their identification, circuit information, operating requirements and condition to establish a suitable integration scope.
Do you design and build every hydraulic component?
No. This service addresses the coordinated machine and controls package. Specialist component design or manufacture is identified and assigned explicitly where required.
Can you improve fault messages for an actuator sequence?
Yes. The work begins by defining the expected movement and available feedback so diagnostics can distinguish a missing permission, incomplete action and device or communication fault.
