MCT Nexus SERVICE
Machine Electrical & Controls Documentation
Organize electrical drawings, PLC/HMI backups, device configurations, network diagrams and machine records around the installed equipment.
Create a reliable reference for the next engineering task.
Machine documentation should help a technician or engineer identify what is installed and how it is intended to operate. MCT Nexus can review available records and define a documentation package for a new machine, an upgrade or an existing system with incomplete information.
The first step is an inventory of drawings, software, device records and manuals. Identify the source, revision and known limitations of each item. A file stored in a project folder is not necessarily the version running on the machine.
Define the records in the scope.
Electrical drawings and parts
Schematics, panel layouts, terminal information, cable records, I/O lists and bills of materials should reflect the agreed equipment scope. Field changes need a controlled review before they become an issued drawing revision. A site survey may be needed to resolve differences between a drawing and the physical machine.
Controls software and configurations
Identify PLC and HMI project files, development software versions, device settings and relevant dependencies. Clarify ownership and licensing for third-party libraries or applications. Controller uploads may not recover every comment, source file or dependency needed to maintain the original project.
Networks and operating information
Document device identities, addresses, connection paths and interface ownership. Operating descriptions, alarm guidance, commissioning records and manuals can be included where appropriate. Access credentials should be handled through the customer’s approved secure process, not embedded in a public drawing or website inquiry.
Check the package against the delivered machine.
Documentation work needs a defined verification level. Organizing supplied files is different from checking them against the equipment, and both differ from reconstructing missing design information. The proposal should identify what will be reviewed, what access is required and what remains unverified.
Use revision identification and a clear folder structure so later changes can be traced. Agree on native files and readable formats needed by maintenance, engineering and purchasing. The final package should record open questions and limitations rather than imply completeness where information could not be recovered.
For a project inquiry, describe the machine, available records, known gaps and the purpose of the documentation work. Include whether a site survey, software comparison or drawing update is needed. MCT Nexus can coordinate the scope with troubleshooting, retrofits or OEM engineering support.
