PRODUCT GLOSSARYShared terms.
Shared terms.
Clearer conversations.
A practical reference for the terms used across MCT Orbit.
- Rock
- A company or department priority with an owner, due date and linked shared tasks. Quarter filtering is derived from its due date.
- Company To-Do
- Company work that can be linked to a Rock or issue and appears in shared execution views. It is distinct from a project task.
- Approved actual
- Accepted time included in actual effort under company policy. Pending or rejected time is excluded when approval is required.
- Budget, adjustment and estimate
- Budget is the baseline. Task estimates use budget plus adjustment to form an estimate; remaining is estimate less approved actual.
- Remaining effort
- The work still expected to be required, used with actual effort when reviewing the latest estimate and resource demand.
- Scorecard
- Owned measures with units, targets, actual values and status. Values can be manual or use a defined automatic source.
- Finalized week
- A saved set of reviewed scorecard values and context. It does not freeze all operational records.
- Issue
- A problem or decision requiring ownership, discussion and resolution. Linked follow-up work has its own completion state.
- Accountability role
- A business responsibility in a hierarchy. It is separate from the person’s access permission role and leave approval manager.
- Capacity
- Available work time within a period, evaluated against planned work and calendar constraints.
- Schedule Impact
- A comparison of current and proposed plans, including project finishes, people conflicts and delivery commitments.
- Locked work
- A planning constraint that preserves a scheduled commitment rather than freely moving it to satisfy another proposal.
- Material forecast
- The larger of budget or actual material cost for each record.
- Resource-only employee
- A person who can exist in company resource records without enabled application login.
